The Minnesota Twins released outfielder Jason Kubel on Sunday after he reportedly refused an assignment to Triple-A Rochester.
Kubel was designated for assignment last week and the 32-year-old veteran cleared waivers. He is now free to sign with any club.
In his second stint with the Twins, Kubel hit 224/.313/.295 with one home run in 45 games. His most productive season was with Minnesota in 2009 when he hit .300/.369/.539 with 28 homers and 35 doubles.
