Logan Morrison busts open head during dugout tantrum: 'I acted like a 3-year-old'
Seattle Mariners outfielder Logan Morrison required five stitches above his left eye after smashing his bat against the dugout wall in the fifth inning of Sunday's game against Texas.
According to Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times, Morrison became infuriated after popping out to shortstop with two runners on in the fifth inning. Upon returning to the dugout, Morrison hammered his bat against the wall, shattering it into pieces and sustaining a gash above his left eye as a result of flying debris.
"I got into a fight with my bat," he joked after the game. "You shoud've seen the other guy."
Morrison exited the game following the outburst, and the Mariners have not said when they expect him back in the lineup.
The 26-year-old missed more than a month this season due to a hamstring injury and has struggled since his return. He's hitting .135/.200/.243 with one homer in 40 plate appearances on the year.
"Obviously I acted like a 3-year-old," Morrison said. "I apologized to my teammates. I can’t do that. I didn’t want to come out of the game. They saw me gushing blood from my eyebrow and they took me out. I’m embarrassed. No matter how bad I’m playing, I can’t do that."
