Marlins sign top pick Tyler Kolek
The Miami Marlins agreed to terms with high school right-hander Tyler Kolek, the second overall pick in this year's draft, the team announced Monday.
Kolek will reportedly receive a $6 million signing bonus, the third-highest bonus for a high school pitcher.
Kolek's $6 mil bonus will trail only Jameson Taillon & Brady Aiken ($6.5 mil each) in @MLBDraft history among HS pitchers ...

With an assigned $6,821,800 bonus allotment for their top pick, the Marlins appear as though they secured Kolek for under slot.
And @Marlins not only get hardest-throwing HS P ever, they also save $821,800 vs bonus pool to spend elsewhere. @MLBDraft

At 6-foot-5 and 260 pounds, the Texas native has scouts drooling over his potential as a front-of-the-rotation arm. Kolek possesses triple-digit ability with a sweeping curve and slider. The 18-year-old posted a 0.35 ERA over 60 1/3 innings for Shepherd High School this season.
The Marlins introduced Kolek to the media during a press conference Monday afternoon.
