Mike Trout opened the scoring for the American League when he tripled in the bottom of the first inning to score Derek Jeter, but Miguel Cabrera padded the lead with a two-run homer off Adam Wainwright two batters to put the AL up 3-0.
It was the first homer surrendered by Wainwright since May 30.
Wainwright on Cabrera: "He’s a Nintendo-type player. ... The ball is on the white chalk line off the plate. Nobody keeps that ball fair."
