Derek Jeter's 14th and final All-Star Game appearance sure was an eventful one.
After laying out for a near-web gem in the top of the first inning, Jeter stroked a double to right field following a terrific ovation in the bottom of the frame.
After a quiet second inning, Jeter stepped to the plate to face Alfredo Simon of the Cincinnati Reds. The Captain fell behind 1-2 but took a ball low, fouled off a fastball and took another ball low to fill the count.
Simon fired off a 94 MPH fastball that caught a little too much of the plate, and Jeter punched it into right field for a single:
The hit makes Jeter the oldest player ever to tally two hits in an All-Star Game and moves him into a tie for fifth in All-Star Game history with 13 hits. He's now 13-for-27 with a walk, two doubles, three RBI, a stolen base and six runs scored, good for an incredible .482/.517/.667 line.
The plan calls for Jeter to be removed from the game in the top of the fourth.
