Phillies closer Jonathan Papelbon is enticing fans in Philadelphia to boo him, a clear signal he wants out of town. But does anybody want him?
CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports the market for Papelbon is "light" at the moment after Huston Street and Joakim Soria packed their bags for new destinations.
Another major issue with moving Papelbon is his enormous contract. The righty is on the books for $13 million this year and next, and also has a vesting option for 2016.
Heyman believes the Pittsburgh Pirates are the only team looking for "closing insurance" behind Mark Melancon, but likely don't have the financial resources to take on the contract even though the Phillies are willing to eat some of the contract.
The 33-year-old hurler has converted 24 of his 27 save attempts and boasts an impressive 1.91 ERA in 42 1/3 innings pitched.
