Mike Carp is apparently ready to jump ship.
According to Pete Abraham of the Boston Globe, the utilityman requested a trade from the Boston Red Sox. Carp spoke to the team after the All-Star break.
The last-place Red Sox began trading away veterans this weekend, sending Jake Peavy to the San Francisco Giants. Jon Lester also mentioned he is prepared for a potential trade, given the team's current situation.
Carp has played less for #RedSox this season. Believes he could contribute to a contender. Said his request was respectful. Now waiting.

Carp, 28, is hitting .215 in 79 at-bats this season, and he's struggled to find playing time in Boston.
“We’ve met multiple times coming out of the break and since the break, since we’ve started back up. He wants to play more. I respect that,” manager John Farrell said, via Alex Speier of WEEI. “I can respect his desire to get on the field.”
In limited action in the Red Sox championship run, Carp hit .296/.362/.431 in 243 plate appearances.
