Derek Jeter moved up another step in the baseball record books Monday night.
With his third hit of the game against the Texas Rangers, the New York Yankees shortstop passed Carl Yastrzemski to grab sole possession of seventh on the all-time MLB career hits list.
The hit was, as so many of Jeter's hits are, a single into right-center field off Yu Darvish, one of 3,420 over the Yankee captain's illustrious career. He is now 10 hits behind Honus Wagner for sixth.
