Kennys Vargas: Called Up By Twins

Vargas was called up from Double-A New Britain on Thursday, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Analysis:

The 23-year-old switch hitter will make the jump from Double-A, where he's hit .281/.360/.472 with 17 homers and 63 RBI this season, replacing Sam Fuld on the active roster. Fuld was traded to the A's earlier Thursday in exchange for left-hander Tommy Milone. It seems Vargas may get an extended look in the majors, possibly stepping into a regular role if the team manages to unload Josh Willingham prior to the deadline.
