Jim Johnson appears to be inching closer to a reunion with the Baltimore Orioles, as the beleaguered 31-year-old will throw a side session for the club on Monday, according to Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun.

The Orioles are considered the "frontrunners" for Johnson, though the club is only expected to offer the right-hander a minor-league deal, according to Connolly.
Johnson, who was released by the Oakland Athletics on Friday, spent the first eight seasons of his career with the Orioles, notching 101 saves with a 2.72 ERA as the team's closer from 2012 to 2013.
