Dan Uggla declines Triple-A assignment with Giants

Lance Iversen / USA Today Sports

Dan Uggla's time as a San Francisco Giant has almost surely come to a close.

There was a thought that the second baseman may accept an assignment to Triple-A to help get his timing at the plate back, but it appears he's opted to try and land another major league gig without taking that step.

It's unclear how much interest there will be in the 34-year-old considering he's hit .149/.229/.213 over 52 games with the Atlanta Braves and Giants, especially since perhaps no team needs help at the keystone more than San Francisco.

On a minimum deal, and especially in a hitter's ballpark, perhaps someone takes a flier on the power that's produced a 15.1 percent home run per fly ball rate and a home run every 23 plate appearances over nine seasons.
