Astros GM hopes to see Springer return to lineup this week

Though it seems unlikely injured outfielder George Springer will return to the lineup when first eligible, Houston Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow is optimistic the 24-year-old rookie will be back in action this week, according to MLB.com's Brian McTaggart.

Springer landed on the disabled list July 23 due to a right quad strain and only began a rehabilitation assignment Monday with the Quad Cities River Bandits of the Midwest League.
