Preller, who previously served as assistant general manager of the Texas Rangers, is poised to become the tenth general manager in Padres history, and his hiring was announced by several team officials at Petco Park on Wednesday.
“He really loves the game," MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan said last month. "He will be up all night just to watch baseball games. He loves 24/7 baseball. He has no place to go except for work because he is just a total baseball nut.”
