Medica didn't appear to be seriously injured as he was laughing after getting plunked, but the team removed him from the game for precautionary reasons.
Literally spoke with Tommy Medica about his worst HBP yesterday. Said he'd never been hit in the head, knocked on wood. Epic jinx there.

Head protection has been a hot-button issue in the bigs this week after Miami Marlins reliever Dan Jennings took a comebacker off his head, resulting in a concussion.
Medica says OK after #Pirates doctors check him out. He will have to watch for symptoms in next few days.
