Tyler Skaggs: (Elbow) To Undergo Tommy John Surgery
Skaggs (elbow) will require season-ending Tommy John surgery, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports. He was transferred to the 60-day DL on Sunday.
Analysis:
Skaggs was initially diagnosed with a flexor tendon strain, but a more thorough review revealed some ligament damage to his elbow, making him the latest in a long line of pitchers to succumb to Tommy John. The lengthy 12-to-18-month recovery effectively wipes out Skaggs' 2015 season and clouds his long-term future with the Angels. The team will attempt to get by with Hector Santiago as their fifth starter over the final two months of the season.
