Marlins' Giancarlo Stanton suffers multiple facial injuries
The Miami Marlins are likely to be without franchise outfielder Giancarlo Stanton for the remainder of the season.
Stanton was struck in the face by a pitch from Brewers right-hander Mike Fiers on an attempted checked swing and had to be stretchered off the field in Milwaukee.
UPDATE: Giancarlo suffered facial lacerations requiring stitches, multiple facial fractures & dental damage after being hit by a pitch.

The Marlins added Stanton will return to Miami on Friday.
A very emotional Fiers offered his apologies to Stanton following the game.

Stanton had been enjoying an MVP-caliber season, as the 24-year-old entered the day hitting .287/.395/.554 with 37 home runs and an MLB-leading 105 RBI.
Miami would go on to lose the game 4-2, falling 5.5-games back in the NL wild card race.
