Minnesota Twins closer Glen Perkins underwent an MRI on Thursday after experiencing soreness in his arm earlier this week, and it's believed the 31-year-old is battling nerve irritation, according to the Star Tribune.
Perkins complained of soreness after allowing three earned runs over one inning of work in Tuesday's 4-3 victory over the Detroit Tigers, prompting the club to send him for an MRI. Results of the exam are expected Friday, though surgery is not anticipated for the two-time All-Star.
Perkins owns a 3.65 ERA while collecting 34 saves in 41 chances this season, but has struggled mightily in recent weeks, stumbling to a 14.21 ERA while blowing three saves in his last eight appearances.
