Yasiel Puig on Jorge Soler: 'He can do a lot more'
Chicago Cubs outfielder Jorge Soler is the latest Cuban to break out in the majors, and he's earning high praise from a fellow countryman for his offensive surge since being called up from the minors in late August.
“He hasn’t done anything yet," Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig said via the Los Angeles Times. "He can do a lot more. He’s a great player. I know he’ll continue to improve.”
Puig is getting an up-close-and-personal look at Soler this weekend as the Dodgers visit Wrigley Field. The duo also trains together in the Miami area in the offseason.
Soler, 22, entered play Saturday hitting .361 with five homers and 18 RBIs in 17 games. He's living up to the hype of the nine-year, $30-million deal he inked with the Cubs in 2012.
Soler is one of many exciting Cubs prospects working their way through the farm system, giving fans hope that 2015 could be the year the franchise becomes competitive in the National League Central again.
