The sheer volume of the crowd at PNC Park on Wednesday likely stopped Hunter Pence from hearing second baseman Joe Panik as they converged on a second-inning fly ball, but it's more fun to believe the unorthodox outfielder's "champion blood" compelled him to pursue any ball in play with reckless abandon.
Pence's subsequent explanation of what happened, complete with amazing gyrations and facial expressions, was almost as entertaining as the play itself.
