Kauffman Stadium officials reportedly asked Marlins fan to vacate home-plate seat
There's an opponent inside the head of the Kansas City Royals and it's not the San Francisco Giants.
Baseball fan Laurence Leavy was reportedly asked to leave his $8,000 seat behind home plate in Tuesday's Game 1 of the World Series after stadium officials expressed displeasure over his Miami Marlins apparel.
"The owner of the Royals was extremely upset I was there," Leavy told the Miami Herald.
Leavy, appropriately known as "Marlins Man," was front and center on the television broadcast, outfitted in a bright orange Marlins jacket with a matching visor.
He contends personnel at Kauffman Stadium approached him during the game and asked that he either move to a private suite or cover up his clothing, in exchange for World Series swag.
A Royals spokesperson denied Leavy's accusations, according to the Herald.
The Marlins season-ticket holder is no stranger to standing out. The 58-year-old sports fanatic and lawyer claims he's been to 27 Super Bowls, more than 200 NBA playoff games and at least 85 World Series games.
"I never had any kids, nor have any wife," Leavy said Wednesday. "You don’t have to pay for a wife and kids, so you have money in the bank."
Leavy said he will be back behind home plate for Game 2.
