Despite Joe Maddon's sudden availability, Terry Collins' job as the manager of the New York Mets appears safe.
"We are not changing managers," Mets chief operating officer Jeff Wilpon told Marc Craig of Newsday.
Collins, who is entering his fifth year as the team's manager, has one year remaining on his contract, with the Mets holding a team option for 2016. Since joining New York in 2011, Collins owns a 304-344 (.469) record.
Maddon exercised the opt-out clause in his contract on Friday, leaving the Tampa Bay Rays after nine seasons as manager.
