The San Francisco Giants turned the ball over to staff ace Madison Bumgarner in the fifth inning of Game 7 of the World Series and he responded with a scoreless frame to set a major-league record.

Curt Schilling held the previous record (48 1/3 innings pitched) for his work in the 2001 postseason.
Bumgarner ended the night by throwing five, two-hit innings, earning the Game 7 save, the MVP, and finishing the postseason with a record 52 2/3 innings thrown.
He's a champion, again, and a big reason why the Giants are title-holders for the third time in five years.
