Report: Yankees, Blue Jays have called about Angels' Howie Kendrick
The Los Angeles Angels are reportedly looking to dispose of an infielder this winter, and the club has already received calls from two other American League teams about second baseman Howie Kendrick.
According to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports, both the New York Yankees and Toronto Blue Jays have inquired about the 31-year-old second baseman, who's believed to have generated more interest than third baseman David Freese, another likely trade candidate.
Though both clubs could afford to upgrade at second base, the Blue Jays' efforts to pursue Kendrick could be in vain as the former All-Star possesses a limited no-trade clause that allows him to block trades to Toronto.
Kendrick, who's spent his entire nine-year career with the Angels, has just one season remaining on his contract but is still one of the game's most productive middle infielders. Only seven other second basemen have produced more wins above replacement over the last three seasons than Kendrick, who hit .293/.347/.397 (115 OPS+) over 157 games in 2014.
