Reds GM on free agency, trades: 'We really aren't close on anything'
Kirby Lee / US PRESSWIRE
The Cincinnati Reds have plenty of needs to address this offseason but general manager Walt Jocketty isn't preparing to put pen to paper any time soon.
"We're still talking to both agents and clubs about trades," Jocketty told John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer. "We really aren't close on anything."
Cincinnati is in need of an outfielder and has previously been linked to Nori Aoki and Michael Morse. Jocketty declined to delve into his level of interest in Torii Hunter.
"I don't want to get into that," he said. "When I talked about Aoki, I got hounded by the media. Let's put (it) this way: We're talking to a lot of agents, and (Hunter) is a pretty good player."
