"Beest Mode" isn't leaving Toronto. Not yet, at least.
Paul Beeston will reportedly remain president of the Toronto Blue Jays in 2015, according to the Toronto Sun's Bob Elliott.
It was reported Sunday that the Blue Jays were actively looking for a replacement for the 69-year-old Beeston, whose contract expired on Oct. 31, according to Sportsnet's Shi Davidi.
Baltimore Orioles executive vice president Dan Duquette's name was discussed internally in Toronto, but the Orioles won't let him out of his contract.
Chicago White Sox vice president Kenny Williams was reportedly denied permission to speak with the Blue Jays about the job, saying Sunday "that ship has sailed."
Minnesota Twins general manager Terry Ryan's name is reportedly high on the Jays' list of candidates, as well.
However, all those rumors may be for not, according to Elliott:
But Beeston is not going any where, we are told and will be the president for the 2015 season, we’re told. ...
We’re told Beeston will be at 1 Blue Jays Way for another year.
Phone calls to Rogers un-Communications were not returned.
Beeston's the longest-tenured employee in Blue Jays history, and was a big part of the team's glory days in the early 1990s. He'll eventually be the former president of the Blue Jays, but when that happens is anyone's guess, it seems.
