Former Angels prospect Ryan Bolden shot and killed in Atlanta
Former Los Angeles Angels prospect Ryan Bolden was shot and killed late Wednesday night in Atlanta, as first reported by FOX 5.
Bolden, 23, was involved in an altercation at an apartment complex that turned violent after a group of children were fighting over candy and parents got involved.
"He was a tremendous young man," Angels scouting director Ric Wilson told MLB.com's Alden Gonzalez. "He was very polite, he worked hard, he respected himself, he respected people, he respected authority and he just did whatever he could to make himself a better baseball player. ... He was just a really good young man, and came from a really good family. It's heartbreaking, it really is."
The Angels selected Bolden with the 40th overall pick (supplemental first round) of the 2010 draft, and he played four years in the team's farm system. A back injury prompted him to leave the organization in 2013.
