Brewers agree to terms with Martin Maldonado on 2-year deal

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports / Reuters

Backup catcher Martin Maldonado agreed to a two-year contract with the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday to avoid arbitration.

Analysis:

Maldonado will return as the top backup to star catcher Jonathan Lucroy, after only getting 111 at-bats last year, despite staying healthy for the entire season. Maldonado did well with the limited work, posting a .234/.320/.387 batting line, with four home runs and 16 RBI.
