It appears as though Rusney Castillo has avoided the dreaded spring training injury bug, at least for now.
The Boston Red Sox outfielder underwent a medical evaluation for a pain in his left side early Wednesday and told reporters, "Thankfully it's nothing serious."
Castillo, who went 1-for-3 in in the Red Sox's 1-0 victory over Boston College on Monday, expects to play Thursday versus the Minnesota Twins.
The Cuban is the front-runner to lock down the starting center field job after inking a seven-year, $72.5-million contract last year.
