Report: Braves offer 4-year contract, others 5-year deals to Hector Olivera
A full-blown bidding war for Cuban infielder Hector Olivera is underway.
The Atlanta Braves have officially tabled a four-year offer for around $40 million to Olivera, reports CBS Sports' Jon Heyman. Olivera, however, is drawing interest from multiple teams and has also received five-year offers, according to Heyman.
Heyman doesn't name the clubs willing to go five years, but speculates the San Diego Padres, Los Angeles Dodgers, San Francisco Giants, Oakland Athletics and Miami Marlins are in on the bidding.
Olivera, who has 15-20 home run potential, is reportedly looking to land a six-year offer, but it's unclear whether anyone has offered such a long-term contract at this point.
The 29-year-old is expected to sign by the end of the week, according to his agent Greg Genske.
