Astros trade Gregorio Petit to Yankees
Troy Taormina / USA TODAY Sports
The Houston Astros have traded infielder Gregorio Petit to the New York Yankees for a player to be named later or cash considerations.
The move comes in the wake of Yankees shortstop Brendan Ryan's Grade 2 right calf strain. Petit will provide depth for the hurting Yankees' infield.
Petit was not going to break camp with the Astros, so the move makes sense for both teams. In 37 games with the Astros, Petit batted .278 with two home runs and 9 RBI over 100 plate appearances.
