Red Sox drop Orioles in rain-shortened Patriots' Day game
The Boston Red Sox used a four-run third inning to bust open Monday's matinee tilt versus the Baltimore Orioles en route to a rain-shortened 7-1 victory on Patriots' Day.
After a one-hour and 42-minute delay, the game was called after the top of the seventh inning.
Justin Masterson allowed three hits over five innings, walked three and struck out six to earn his second win. Dustin Pedroia went 2-for-3 with a run scored and drove in a run to help the Red Sox salvage a series split with Baltimore.
David Ortiz drove in a run, tying Hall of Famer Joe Dimaggio for 46th on MLB's all-time RBI list with 1,537.
The team mixed up their home uniforms, wearing jerseys with "Boston" inscribed across the front instead of the usual "Red Sox." The jerseys also had "Boston Strong" patches to honor the victims of the deadly marathon attacks from two years ago.

As is Patriots' Day tradition, the Boston Marathon also took place during the day.
