Nats' Ryan Zimmerman dealing with minor case of plantar fasciitis
Oft-injured Washington Nationals first baseman Ryan Zimmerman is hurt again.
Zimmerman, who moved across the diamond following a career-low 61-game campaign in 2014, is dealing with a minor case of plantar fasciitis that's been bothering him for the last four or five days. The foot issue may cause him to take some time off soon.
He said it's only a problem when running and felt worse during Thursday's loss to the St. Louis Cardinals.
"It's been fine, and then this morning it was obviously a little bit worse," he told reporters. "I wasn't moving around that well, but still able to play. I feel fine at the plate. It's just, obviously, running the bases today wasn't that great. But we’ll just treat it and try to keep it under control until it can go away."
The 11-year veteran went 1-for-4 in the loss.
Zimmerman is off to a slow start, hitting .226/.304/.419 with two homers through 16 games.
