VIDEO: Angels, D-Backs both lose when batted ball hits runner for final out
One of the most anticipated days in sports included a pair of especially unusual endings in baseball.
First, it was the struggling Los Angeles Angels offense literally hitting its way into another loss.
The Angels, who entered play Saturday with the fourth-worst OBP and OPS in the American League, lost for the fourth time in six games when San Francisco closer Santiago Casilla got Angels outfielder Matt Joyce to ground into teammate Taylor Featherston while he was running between first and second base for the 5-4 Giants win.
Unbelievably, more than five hours later and 400 miles south, the Arizona Diamondbacks lost the exact same way.
The Los Angeles Dodgers won their third straight game when Diamondbacks outfielder David Peralta's ground ball up the middle hit Jordan Pacheco for the final out.
How bizarre.
