Umpire Kerwin Danley to sit out Wednesday due to concussion symptoms
Plagued by concussion symptoms after taking a foul tip off his mask Tuesday, veteran umpire Kerwin Danley won't take the field for Wednesday's game at Chase Field between the Washington Nationals and Arizona Diamondbacks, according to Mark Zuckerman of CSNWashington.
Danley was forced to exit Tuesday's contest in the second inning after being struck by a foul tip off the bat of Nick Ahmed. The 53-year-old keeled over after being struck and was briefly attended to by a trainer, though a CT scan after the game came back negative.
Gabe Morales moved from second base to take over behind the plate after Danley's exit on Tuesday, while Rob Drake is expected to serve as the home-plate umpire for Wednesday's matchup between Gio Gonzalez and Jeremy Hellickson.
