Orioles designate De Aza for assignment

The Baltimore Orioles designated Alejandro De Aza for assignment Wednesday in a pair of roster moves that included activating infielder Ryan Flaherty off the disabled list.
De Aza, who was awarded a $5-million salary after losing his arbitration case this winter, was hitting .214/.277/.359 in 30 games this season. The Orioles have seven days to place De Aza on waivers and up to 10 days to either release or trade the 31-year-old Dominican native.
Flaherty will assume De Aza's roster spot after missing the last 13 games with a right groin strain he re-aggravated May 11.
