Report: Mets, Brewers have had preliminary trade talks involving position players
Dealing with a number of injuries to key infielders, the New York Mets are reportedly canvassing the market for help.
The last place Milwaukee Brewers are expected to be sellers and Jon Morosi of FOX Sports reported the two sides have had preliminary trade talks, with New York looking at position players.
Currently sitting in a tie with the Washington Nationals atop the NL East, the Mets are without All-Star infielders David Wright and Daniel Murphy for the foreseeable future.
Mets manager Terry Collins hinted at a potential roster in the near future when talking to reporters Wednesday.
"There's something to occur in the next few days," Collins said, before refusing to elaborate.
It was reported in early May that the Brewers were letting teams know they will make their veterans available, including third baseman Aramis Ramirez.
The 36-year-old, who is set to retire at the end of the season, is hitting .213/.257/.390 with seven home runs and eight doubles.
Marc Carig of Newsday reported the Mets are eyeing Ramirez, while Adam Rubin of ESPN does not believe the team is in on the three-time All-Star.
