Mets' Cuddyer dealing with bone bruise below knee, could land on DL
The New York Mets could have a major problem on their hands in the form of outfielder Michael Cuddyer's left knee.
Cuddyer has been dealing with knee soreness the past two months and was forced to come out of Sunday's game as he was no longer able to run.
The 36-year-old, who agreed to a two-year, $21-million deal this offseason, acknowledged Saturday that the discomfort is likely going to bother him for the remainder of the season. He told reporters Sunday that he's dealing with a bone bruise below the knee and a trip to the disabled list is possible, though he doesn't believe it to be a season-ending injury.
Adam Rubin of ESPN reports the the team's training staff will attempt one last procedure before making a decision on the DL.
Injuries limited Cuddyer to 49 games last season. While he's appeared in 80 games for the Mets this year, he's struggled with his production, hitting .249/.298/.381 with eight home runs and 72 strikeouts.
