Indians' Nick Hagadone has elbow surgery, to miss 6-9 months

CLEVELAND - Cleveland Indians pitcher Nick Hagadone has undergone surgery on his left elbow and is expected to miss six to nine months.

Hagadone, who had Tommy John surgery in 2008 while pitching in the minors, had Thursday's surgery performed by Dr. James Andrews in Pensacola, Florida. Andrews said he repaired a fracture of the left medial epicondyle of the elbow in the area where the original surgery was performed.

Hagadone was 0-1 with a 4.28 ERA in 36 relief appearances. The left-hander was placed on the 15-day disabled list on July 8 with a lower back strain. He began a minor league assignment on July 15, but felt pain in his elbow after facing one batter.
