VIDEO: Blue Jays' Pillar puts range, athleticism on display with diving catch
The revamped Toronto Blue Jays continue to inspire comparisons to the 1993 club that bashed its way to a second straight World Series championship.
But with all due respect to Devon White, the center fielder for Toronto more than two decades ago, he might not have been able to do what Kevin Pillar did Thursday night at Rogers Centre (nee: SkyDome).
Pillar, an unheralded prospect who, as it happens, leads the Blue Jays in games played this season, made one of the year's most sensational catches during the eighth inning of his team's 9-3 victory over the Minnesota Twins, laying out to rob Miguel Sano of an extra-base hit.

Pillar, a 32nd-round pick in the 2011 draft, already had a reasonable claim for catch of the year for his ridiculous, seemingly impossible leaping grab to take a home run away from Tim Beckham of the Tampa Bay Rays back on April 16.
Not surprisingly, the 26-year-old ranks second in the majors in defensive runs saved (16) among outfielders, trailing only Kevin Kiermaier of Tampa Bay.
