With the regular season nearing its dramatic conclusion, Major League Baseball released the schedule for the 2015 postseason Monday, with the World Series slated to begin Tuesday, Oct. 27.

The journey for baseball's best teams to represent their league in the 111th edition of the Fall Classic begins Tuesday, Oct. 6 with the AL wild-card game. The NL wild-card game will take place the following evening.

After the eight-team playoff pool is finalized, the American League Division Series will kick off Thursday, Oct. 8, with the National League Division Series starting the following night. Should the ALDS require a fifth game, the decisive contest will be held Wednesday, Oct. 14, while a potential fifth game for the NLDS would take place Thursday, Oct. 15.

The American League Championship Series begins Friday, Oct. 16, while the two best teams in the National League will start their showdown for a spot in the World Series on Saturday, Oct. 17. A seventh game for the ALCS, if necessary, would take place Saturday, Oct. 24, with a seventh NLCS game tentatively scheduled for the following night.

Once the field is whittled down to two teams, the World Series will commence Oct. 27 and will stretch into November barring a four-game sweep. Should the best-of-seven showdown require a seventh game, it will be held Wednesday, Nov. 4.
