Only one name remains in the way of Ichiro Suzuki and his quest to become baseball's all-time hits leader.
The Miami Marlins outfielder surpassed Hall of Famer Ty Cobb for sole possession of second place on the all-time professional hits list with a first-inning single Saturday against the St. Louis Cardinals. It was Suzuki's 4,192nd hit between his career in Japan and the majors.

Suzuki collected 1,278 hits in Japan before making his major-league debut with the Seattle Mariners in 2001. The 10-time All-Star has gone on to accumulate 2,914 hits in 15 major-league seasons.
The 41-year-old sits 64 back of Pete Rose's record of 4,256 hits.
Without considering Suzuki's production in Japan, he ranks 38th on the all-time list.
