Cardinals manager believes Heyward's hamstring is OK, will 'go slow with him'
The St. Louis Cardinals can't afford to lose another outfielder with Randal Grichuk, Matt Holliday, and Jon Jay all inactive due to injuries - and it doesn't look like they will.
The hamstring injury Jason Heyward suffered Monday doesn't appear to be serious, manager Mike Matheny said.
"He went through some tests, everything looks like it will be OK," Matheny told MLB Network Radio on Tuesday. "We'll likely go slow with him."
Heyward left in the second inning of Monday's game for precautionary reasons after complaining about left hamstring tightness.
The 26-year-old will not play Tuesday against the San Francisco Giants.
He's hitting .287/.343/.437 with 11 home runs, 24 doubles, and 18 stolen bases while appearing in 114 of the Cardinals' 118 games.
