Nolan Arenado etched his name in the Colorado Rockies' record books after homering in a sixth consecutive game Saturday night.

The third baseman launched a two-run shot off San Francisco Giants starter Jake Peavy in the sixth inning to surpass Larry Walker and Dante Bichette's record of five straight games with a long ball.

It's the longest homer streak since Baltimore Orioles slugger Chris Davis went deep in six straight contests back in 2012, but Arenado still has some work to do in order to break the major league record of eight.

"I didn't realize Nolan had hit a home run in six straight games," Rockies manager Walt Weiss admitted postgame. "I knew he'd been hitting a lot of them lately. Just another accomplishment for Nolan in a very young career."

Arenado, a first-time All-Star, now has 36 homers on the campaign to move into a tie with teammate Carlos Gonzalez for the National League lead.
