Rangers' Holland meets Charlie Sheen to talk Wild Thing haircut
Derek Holland may be putting himself in line to play Ricky Vaughn in the future.
The Texas Rangers' left-hander, who has been sporting the famous Wild Thing haircut in honor of Charlie Sheen's character in the 'Major League' films, met with the actor on Saturday.
The pair met after Holland pitched eight solid innings of three-hit ball in a 2-1 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday, according to Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News.
"To see how excited he was to see the hair, that was really cool," Holland said. "It was pretty wild. I really didn’t know what I was getting into. It was … awesome."
What sparked the biggest uproar between the pair was a figurine of Jobu, the familiar character Pedro Cerrano channels voodoo powers from in the franchise's first film.
"He lost it when I got Jobu out,” Holland said. "Let’s just say Jobu was very important to the night."
Since returning to the Rangers lineup and rocking his new haircut, Holland is a perfect 3-0 and his ERA has shrank to 2.37.
