Blue Jays' Encarnacion sidelined with finger injury

Ken Blaze / USA TODAY Sports

Toronto Blue Jays slugger Edwin Encarnacion was held out of the lineup Sunday against the New York Yankees, after he aggravated a finger injury on a swing the night before.

Encarnacion tweaked the middle finger on his left hand during the sixth inning of the second game of Saturday's doubleheader, forcing him to leave the game.

General manager Alex Anthopoulos told reporters that he expects Encarnacion to return during the team's three-game series with the Atlanta Braves beginning Tuesday.

Encarnacion initially suffered the injury shortly after the All-Star break and missed four games as a result. The 32-year-old is hitting .271/.365/.541 with 32 home runs and 99 RBIs through 130 games.
