Yankees to honor Yogi Berra with No. 8 patch on jerseys
The New York Yankees will wear Yogi Berra's No. 8 on the left sleeve of their jerseys for the remainder of the season, beginning Wednesday night against the Toronto Blue Jays.
The legendary catcher died Tuesday night at the age of 90. Berra, a Hall of Famer, won 10 World Series titles as a player between 1947 and 1962 and three more as a coach - two with the Yankees (1977, 1978) and one with the crosstown rival New York Mets (1969).

Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner issued a statement Wednesday about the 18-time All-Star.
Yogi Berra's legacy transcends baseball. Though slight in stature, he was a giant in the most significant of ways through his service to his country, compassion for others and genuine enthusiasm for the game he loved. He has always been a role model and hero that America could look up to.
