Report: Giants land highly touted Cuban outfielder Martinez

The San Francisco Giants are dipping into the international pool of prospects in their efforts to return to the postseason.
Days after being eliminated from playoff contention, the defending champions have reportedly agreed to terms with Cuban outfielder Eddy Julio Martinez on a signing bonus worth $2.5 million.
The agreement, as reported by MLB.com's Jesse Sanchez, is pending a physical.
Martinez, 20, is the latest import signed by the Giants, who have locked up more than 15 international prospects during the current signing period. Martinez ranked fourth on MLB.com's top 30 international prospects list.
One of the best young Cuban players available, Martinez has earned praise for his combination of power and speed as a center fielder. He was declared a free agent by Major League Baseball in May, and has been training in the Dominican Republic.
