The New York Mets have released their roster for the National League Division Series as they get set to take on the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday.

Outfielder Kirk Nieuwenhuis - who appeared in just 64 games for the Mets this season - made the postseason roster despite his .208/.282/.406 hitting line, while speedster Eric Young Jr., who seemed like a perfect fit off the bench as a pinch-running spark plug, was omitted.

Juan Uribe, as expected, is also absent from the roster as he recovers from a chest injury.

The Mets must have been happy with what they saw from rookie Steven Matz, who's recovering from back spasms, in his recent simulation game as he made the roster and is in line to start Game 4.

"(I) feel like I could pitch today," Matz told reporters after the roster was released.

Left-hander Sean Gilmartin, who posted a 2.67 ERA in 50 appearances out of the Mets bullpen, is noticeably absent, despite the team taking a plethora of arms.
