Joe Torre to study Utley's slide, concerned with its 'lateness'
Reaction continues to pour in following Chase Utley's controversial slide that fractured New York Mets shortstop Ruben Tejada's right fibula on Saturday night, and the question now turns to whether or not the Los Angeles Dodgers second baseman will be disciplined.

Joe Torre, Major League Baseball's chief baseball officer, briefly weighed in on the incident following the Dodgers' 5-2 win in Game 2 of the NLCS.
''I'd hate to think that Utley tried to hurt somebody,'' said Torre. ''It certainly was late. That concerns me. The lateness of the slide ... I'm looking at it to see if anything should be done.''
Torre's responsibilities include on-field discipline, and he announced during a post-game presser that he will be "digesting" the play to determine if Utley will be suspended.
"I am still in charge of determining if the slide was an over-the-top type of thing," Torre added. "I have to determine if I thought it was excessive. As I said, the late slide is probably the only thing in question right now."
