The Houston Astros received a huge offensive lift from an unlikely source in Game 3 of their ALDS with the Kansas City Royals.
First baseman Chris Carter, hitting eighth in manager A.J. Hinch's lineup Sunday, blasted his first career postseason homer and finished a triple shy of the cycle as part of a 3-for-3 day.

"We have a lot of playmakers on this team that can change the course of a game with one swing or one pitch, and just now that we're getting into the playoffs and getting on that national stage, it's a shock to a lot of people," Astros starting pitcher Dallas Keuchel said.
Carter failed to record a three-hit contest in 129 regular-season games, batting .199/.307/.427 with 24 homers and 64 RBIs prior to the postseason. He's been hot lately, though.
